Together we make our village stronger
Language is the means. Meeting each other is the goal.
Tandemen connects local residents and migrant workers. On this website we call them new neighbours. Because everyone who lives in Sevenum temporarily or for longer deserves a warm welcome.
Every meeting starts with a first step
In many villages, people live next to each other without really knowing each other. This also applies to migrant workers who live and work in the Netherlands temporarily or for longer. They are not only colleagues or employees, but also residents of our village.
At Tandemen we like to call them new neighbours. We believe that a personal meeting can already make a difference: having coffee together, walking, practising Dutch or visiting an association.
A local resident and a new neighbour talk to each other 10 times. This helps language, trust and connection grow. When you get to know one person, you often look differently at the whole group.
Why Tandemen?
In many villages, people live alongside each other without really knowing each other. When people meet, more understanding, trust and connection can grow. That is why Tandemen connects local residents and new neighbours.

We listen to who you are, what you are looking for and what suits you.

Taking part is voluntary. Together we look at what is feasible and pleasant.

We match a local resident and a new neighbour based on interests and availability.

Who is Tandemen for?
New neighbours
Do you live or work in our village temporarily or for longer? Would you like to speak Dutch, meet new people and get to know the village better? Then you are welcome at Tandemen.
Local residents
Would you like to welcome someone in our village? With one hour a week you can already mean a lot. Having coffee together, walking or practising Dutch.
Associations
Would your association like to be open to new neighbours? Tandemen helps lower the threshold to activities and volunteering.
Organisations
Do you work with migrant workers, residents, language, wellbeing or community life? Tandemen is happy to explore cooperation.
Frequently asked questions
Does participation cost money?
No, taking part in Tandemen is free.
Do I need to speak Dutch well?
No. Tandemen is meant to help people dare to speak Dutch in an accessible way.
Do I need to speak Polish or another language?
No. That is not necessary. Together we look at what works for you.
How long does a tandem last?
A tandem lasts 10 meetings. You meet for about one hour each time.
Where do we meet?
You decide that together. For example for coffee, a walk, an activity or a visit to an association.
How are participants matched?
First there is an introductory conversation. Then we look at interests, availability, place of residence and wishes.
Can our association or organisation take part?
Ja, graag. Associations en organisaties kunnen helpen om nieuwe buren kennis te laten maken met het dorp.
